Officer Involved in Breonna Taylor Shooting Receives Book Deal

According to the Courier-Journal, Louisville Metro Police Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly has landed a book deal with Post Hill Press a Tennessee-based publisher that focuses on Christian and conservative works, as well as areas of pop culture, business, and self-help.  The outlet reportedly learned of the deal earlier this week, when Mattingly contacted its newsroom about using one of its photos from a protest back in May. Post Hill Press senior publicist Devon Brown confirmed Thursday that the book titled

The book by the officer, Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, who was wounded in the raid on March 13, 2020, is being published by Post Hill Press, a Tennessee-based house whose specialties include Christian and conservative political books.

LOUISVILLE, Ky.    The Louisville police officer who fired at Breonna Taylor after being shot during the deadly raid on Taylor’s apartment is writing a book. Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and another officer fired shots that hit Taylor during the March 13, 2020, narcotics raid. Mattingly was shot in the leg by Taylor’s boyfriend. Taylor, a 26-year-old Black emergency medical worker, died at the scene, but no drugs were found in the apartment. Mattingly’s book will be published by Tennessee-based Post Hill Press, The Courier Journal reported. The company website said it publishes “current events, Christian and conservative political books,” among other topics.

The Fight For Truth: The Inside Story Behind the Breonna Taylor Tragedy, written by Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, 48, will be edited and published by Tennessee-based Post Hill Press. Post Hill Press Senior Publicist Devon Brown confirmed Thursday morning that Mattingly s book will be published by Post Hill this fall. Mattingly will be available for interviews then, she said, declining further comment. Louisville s The Courier Journal, part of the USA TODAY Network, learned of Mattingly s book when he contacted a staff photographer Tuesday seeking permission to use a photo from May 2020 protests.
