Gregory Naumiec, PhD
Dr. Gregory Naumiec is a Postdoctoral Fellow who joined the PET Radiopharmaceutical Sciences Section (PRSS), Molecular Imaging Branch (MIB), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in June of 2010. He received his BS degree in Biochemistry in 2005 at the State University of New York at Geneseo and earned his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Rhode Island in 2010 with the guidance of Dr. Brenton DeBoef. His graduate work involved the development of 1H and 129Xe magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) biosensors capable of detecting and quantifying dopamine transporter (DAT), which has been linked to several debilitating conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, drug addiction, and schizophrenia. His current work is focused on the development of PET radiotracers for the PCP site of N-Methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors.
