The Prince George Spruce Kings needed seven minutes Thursday night to make it clear they want first place in the BCHL Mainland Division. Hosting the division-leading Langley Rivermen, the Spruce Kings scored three times in the first seven minutes at the Coliseum, enough for a 3-1 win to move within six points of the Rivermen with a game in hand. Braiden Epp opened the scoring for the Spruce Kings a minute and a half into the game, beating Langley starting goalie Lyndon Stanwood with an unassisted effort. Brent Lashuk made it 2-0 at the 6:30 mark and Stanwood was pulled in favour of Brock Crossthwaite. Mitch Barker scored on the first shot the Kings got on Crossthwaite, it was 3-0, and Alex Murray made the lead stand up in the Prince George goal.
