Consumer adoption of EVs has been limited because of a justified concern about the availability and reliability of public chargers. By adopting Tesla’s EV charging network, which is the largest and most reliable network in the country, Ford and GM are clearly focused on alleviating customer concerns about public charging and hoping that this move can justify the $billions they are spending on EV manufacturing infrastructure.

So while you may drive your EV and charge it just fine at home, public charging is and has been a whole other issue, as detailed in a latest report by J.D. Power, via USA Today.
