As a Presbyterian teen in the southern Oregon town of Medford, Judy Crowe would walk past Sacred Heart Church on the way to school. Now 77, Crowe has become Catholic, confirmed in the very same church April 3.

The cause of the accident has not yet been determined but cycling advocate Shane Plummer says the location can be dangerous for cyclists and wants more signage to warn motorists. Plummer “hijacked” some old election signs and erected large warning signs to motorists advising them to take care and pass safely when approaching cyclists. “They were just 450 metres away from where this accident happened,” he said. “I ve seen so many near-missed and been near-missed myself.
Supplied Tauranga City Council requested the signs be removed as they were placed without their permission. Acting General Manager of Infrastructure Stephen Burton said he cannot provide detail at this stage.
Western Bay of Plenty s road toll climbs, with 17 in 2020 and one in 2021

6 minutes to read The number of people who died on Tauranga and Western of Bay roads in 2020 rose to 17 after a grim few months, recording the highest number of road deaths in the wider Bay of Plenty.
That s 17 families whose loved ones never made it home, despite police ramping up their enforcement measures and the Covid-19 lockdown being in force from March 25 to April 26.
This compared to 15 road fatalities from 13 crashes in 2019.
And already this year one person has died in another road fatality in the Western Bay of Plenty police district.
