Get our free mobile app Baldner captured the Democratic nomination with a convincing victory over Brennan Hills and Troup won the Republican nomination with a slim victory over Paul Havermale in the primary election held back on February 23rd.  The two candidates have held several debates in the last few weeks leading up to tomorrow s consolidated election. Baldner is currently an educator at Quincy University after a career in broadcast journalism .  Troup is a business manager in the financial profession. The turnout for the primary election was a dismal 17% of the eligible voters.  The turnout just might decide this election.  The polls open tomorrow (Tuesday, April 6, 2021) at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Anyone in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast their vote.

Baldner wins Democratic nomination for mayor Unmute Unmute Baldner won with 92% of the vote with 980 votes. Her opponent, Brennan Hills, received 87 votes. Baldner said she is glad to have had a competitor like Brennan Hills because they provided a campaign that was civil and full of ideas. A very civil campaign and I am quite proud of that. So now it s just time to move forward it s time to really buckle down and talk about the issues and tell Quincy what the difference is. And I think voters are going to see a real difference in vision in leadership. So I am excited to get started, said Baldner.

Quincy Mayoral Primary Tuesday Quincy voters begin in earnest the process of electing the city’s next mayor Tuesday. There are contests in both parties as four candidates vie for the right to replace current Mayor Kyle Moore, who chose not to run for reelection. The Republican race features Mike Troup and Paul Havermale, while Brennan Hills and Nora Baldner are the candidates on the Democratic side. The Adams County Clerk’s Office reports about 1,000 votes have already been cast in early voting. Polls will be open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. The winners Tuesday will square off in the Consolidated General Election April 6th.
