Crowds are expected to gather in the heart of Hopkinton Thursday afternoon in memory of 16-year-old Mikayla Miller. But while Thursday’s gathering, organized by Violence In Boston, seeks to honor Mikayla’s life, attendees will also be pushing for more information from authorities about Mikayla’s final moments and what led to her death. What Mikayla’s mother, authorities, and activists say Calvina Strothers, Mikayla’s mother, told  The Boston Globe authorities initially informed her that her daughter’s death was a suicide. She also has alleged Hopkinton police have been hostile toward her and have withheld information from her.

‘Turning our town into a circus’: In meeting ahead of rally over Hopkinton teen Mikayla Miller’s death, officials urge expression of grief, quelling of rumors Updated 11:57 PM; Facebook Share Ahead of a rally scheduled later this week calling for answers about the death of 16-year-old Mikayla Miller of Hopkinton, the town’s Select Board met on Tuesday to discuss the planned demonstration, with officials urging the public to express their grief at the event while also aiming to quell rumors about the case. The Select Board held the emergency meeting at 6 p.m. to discuss the vigil and rally that will take place on the community’s town common on Rowe Street on Thursday. Brendan Tedstone, chairman of the Hopkinton Select Board, started off the meeting reading a statement from the municipal body.

Hopkinton Select Board decries wretched implications of teen s death

HOPKINTON The chairman of the Select Board said Tuesday night that he hopes “horrific accusations” against the town and the Police Department in regards to the death of Mikayla Miller will stop after after the District Attorney’s Office provided details of its investigation. District Attorney Marian Ryan, in a Tuesday afternoon press conference and again during a Hopkinton Select Board emergency meeting that evening, reiterated that the 16-year-old girl s death last month remains under investigation and that there is no coverup. The information she provided included a timeline of Miller’s movements, as well as of those involved in an altercation with her the night before her body was found on West Main Street
