John and Irene Connelly, graduates of Brookline High School, started the family business in 1951. After their retirement, daughter Kathy Kenney took charge, and today grandson Brendan Kenney serves as store manager. Brendan remarked that he began working in the store when he was thirteen years old and says, “he grew up in hardware.” As a neighborhood shop, Connelly Hardware sells paint, seasonal products and home goods.
