His side have fallen away after half time in a number of games recently, the latest being at Hull Kingston Rovers on Sunday. Leigh trailed 12-0 early on but levelled matters before turning around 18-12 behind, only to concede four tries after 30 minutes of deadlock. Duffy’s men, still looking for a first Super League win this season, eventually lost 40-16 with back rower Ben Hellewell crossing for two tries. “We were a bit scrappy in the first half but we got ourselves into it,” said Duffy.
Lewis Tierney scored for Leigh. Pic: SWpix.com LEIGH fell away in the last 20 minutes to slump to a 44-6 defeat at home to Huddersfield Giants which keeps them anchored to the foot of the table. Leigh took the lead, but Giants went on to score seven tries without reply to run out resounding winners in front of a crowd of 2,008 at the Leigh Sports Village. As in most of their matches in their first season back in the top flight, the Centurions showed plenty of fight and were in the contest for long periods but the cold hard fact is they have now lost all eight matches in both competitions.
Lewis Tierney had given the Super League newcomers, seeking their first win in the top-flight, the lead. But they conceded 44 unanswered points at LSV in front of a crowd of just above 2,000. Of his side s late collapse Duffy said: I think our completion rate went down to about to 34 per cent - we ended up on 50 per cent. It is upsetting to say the least that last half an hour or so. It just was not good enough. We were right in the game, but this is happening every week. We have just got to keep working hard. It is a mentality thing and we have just got to stick in games for longer periods and the win will come.
