Fellowships to working biographers. Each of these fellowships is now worth 72,000, so not chump change. To date, some 20 biographies have been published including shirley jackson, one of the Prestigious National book critic award for biography. I also read the news about our brandnew wholly unique Masters Program in biography and memoir. It is just hard this autumn with at least 17 students enrolled which is phenomenal. And brenda is actually both a former director of the leon leavy center and she now teaches one of the core courses in the new Masters Program. Just a reminder what our next program is next wednesday september 25 at 6 30 p. M. With david nassau giving the annual lecture on biography. Tonight, im very delighted to have with us ben moser in conversation with brenda wineapple. As i said, branded as a former director of the leon leavy center and shes the author most recently of the mp chairs, the trial of Andrew Johnson and the dream of a just nation. A very widely reviewed

Welcome to this hearing on the subcommittee on antitrust policy and consumer rights. Today we are pleased to have with us the chairman of the federal trade commission, joseph simons, and the assistant attorney general for the antitrust division at the department of justice, makan delrahim. Welcome to both of you. As an initial matter, as a matter of housekeeping, we have been informed we may have a block of more votes starting about an hour from now. The practical matter, we may be able to push it to an hour and a half from now, but before we hit the recess at some point we will likely have to go to recess to cast a few votes. We will have to play some of that by ear. I apologize in advance. Theres no way to predict these in advance. It does seem to be an uncanny event, with antitrust subcommittee hearings. It seems to be a good predictor, albeit an unintentional predictor of when votes are going to occur. As both of you know, ive been critical of the fact that we have two federal agen

Anything yet. We do a lot here at the Historical Society. We provide great programs. Educational workshops. We run National History day in massachusetts. We convene academic seminars and mount exhibitions been but more than anything, what we do is hold an amazing collection of almost 14 million items. We provided to historians and researchers for free. In our holdings, we have the equivalent of 2 and a half president ial libraries. We have the papers of john adams, John Quincy Adams and the personal papers of Thomas Jefferson. Thats important to mention because we have a very special program that has a very special connection. Tonight, we will hear about the publication, the president s and which noted historians rank them on a variety of categories. And if theres anything we like talking about more than president s, its historians talking about president s. So this is on brand for us. As we do with most of our public programs, we have pulled together a small display in the room with t
