Woman Slaughtered in Breaux Bridge; Gunfire Was the Method
A woman is dead today after what Breaux Bridge Police says was a shooting that happened in the 700 block of Albert Street.
BBPD arrested 57-year-old Warren Joseph Chavis after he allegedly pulled the trigger that led to the woman s death around 2:30 Saturday morning.
While very few details are know about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but authorities do say that Chavis was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
He was arrested on three charges; Second-degree murder, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon and Firearm Free Zone.
Chavis bond was set at $550,000.

Breaux Bridge Police is reminding motorists to Click It or Ticket as they again take part in the national seat belt enforcement campaign.
BBPD and law enforcement agencies around the country will be stepping up enforcement from May 24-June 6, ahead and during one of the busiest travel weekens of the year. Every day, unbuckled motorists are losing their lives in motor vehicle crashes, said Breaux Bridge Police Chief Rollie Cantu. As we approach Memorial Day weekend and the summer vacation season, we want to make sure people are doing the one thing that can save them in a crash, buckling up.

A Breaux Bridge man has been arrested in connection to a January armed robbery and shooting that injured one.
According to police, 25-year-old Tradell Demouchet is facing several charges, including three counts of attempted second degree murder; three counts attempted armed robbery; illegal use of weapons; and aggravated criminal damage to property.
Additional arrests are pending.
Police say Tradell was also arrested on charges related to an incident that occurred on April 14, 2021. According to police, Demouchet allegedly threatened a victim with a gun Wednesday at a local business. He is facing charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and disturbing the peace in connection with that incident.

Breaux Bridge Police say they have found an older woman who had been missing since last week.
Patsy Thibodeaux, 65, was found safe in Lafayette, a spokesman confirmed.
She was last seen at about 10 p.m. on Friday, March 12, at the Super 8.
