A significant number of lung patients admitted in private hospitals in Kolkata have been suffering from happy hypoxia or low oxygen saturation without breathing distress. This condition, commonly observed among Covid patients, is often referred to as the 'silent killer' and can result in death within minutes without oxygen support. The prevalence of happy hypoxia is particularly high among patients with chronic lung ailments. Constant monitoring and oxygen support are essential for these patients.
