New fitness classes that aim to help local people aged over 60 get more active are set to launch in Burnham-On-Sea and Brean this month.

The hubs will restart on July 20th at Berrow Village Hall and on July 22nd at Brean Village Hall. Both will run from 1-3pm. Everyone is welcome and the organisers are encouraging residents to bring along someone who might be finding it difficult to get back out into the community. There will be plenty of coffee, tea and cake! Spokeswoman Lesley Millard says: “We now have over 30 volunteers from different parts of the community. We have members of St Mary’s Church, St Bridgets Church, Brean Methodist Church, Burnham Baptist Church and also members of the community who want to support us. We are non-profit making and are seeking further funding to help us sustain our work for a year. ”

Brean s Life s A Beach catering unit is a tasty success with residents and visitors

A Brean catering unit is proving popular with residents and visitors in the holiday resort this summer. Called Life’s A Beach, the catering unit is open for business at Brean Village Hall’s car park from 9am-1pm and 4pm-8pm Tuesdays to Sundays, weather permitting. Owner Nicola Turner told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Our beach concession has been running  successfully for three years now. This year we’ve added the village hall car park as a new location, which is getting lots of support.” “We have received really positive feedback and reviews online from customers – and our numbers of regular customers are growing all the time.”
