they re taken to that shelter and several others. that s highway 6, it remains shut down at clay road. you can t get much further in that direction. we re trying to go south on that, just couldn t. we spent some time earlier in the neighborhood far in the distance. and that neighborhood hasn t completely flooded yet. but the water was rising and residents were debating whether or not to leave there. so, again, that gives you a lay of the land here, chris. this is, again, as i was saying before we saw this latest boat, the mayor of houston says he hopes that within the next 24 hours after the next 24 hours there may be some improvement in the situation. but until then, this water is rising even though we have a break in the rain, simiply so much water has fallen in the last few days, the rivers and creeks are overflowing. this is what you re seeing. this is the result of that. and thankfully a lot of people are stepping up, houstonians and people around

the green shirt. they re helping people get on to the boat. guys we ve been at the staging area where they ve launched these boats from the last hour and a half to two hours. there s been several of people taken out of those areas into hotels. these people are electricing to come. we re told some people are electing to stay at the omnihotel even though the water is past people s knees. we re told it s rising. you can see in the lop by there, i can see a staircase where the water is going up a bit. we are getting bit of a break in the rain right now. it has not rained in the last 45 minutes. we re told between 60 and 80 people were stranded inside here. the hotel staff has kept people calm. they say the people can stay for as long as they want. ma am, can you tell us what you re name is please.
go and what s the greatest challenge immediately this week that you face? well, first of all i want to thank the president and the white house. they responded quickly to governor abbott. the governor and i have been in constant communication. he is in austin and i m in houston area. the governor has done a great job. you reported in your last package we have every asset deployed possible. whether the coast guard or state, local and county and volunteers. it is a massive rescue effort. it is all about lives right now, eric. for me what the focus is, we would like to get a break in the rain at least for a day so that some of this water can recede. but this issue, if the storm turns and comes back and dumps more rain, that will be a problem mid and later in the week. we can t absorb much more. secondly, the other issue is all of these hundreds of thousands of people as they are evacuating, you have to have a place for them to go.
