Fake CNY cop with gun, drug cache gets yearlong Covid reprieve before long prison term

Syracuse, NY At least one Central New York criminal benefited greatly from the yearlong Covid-19 pandemic.
Robert Shaw, 34, of Liverpool, who had a cop costume and amassed a large cache of drugs and guns, was supposed to go to prison in March 2020 after pleading guilty to two felonies.
But Shaw’s 10-year punishment was one of the first local sentencings delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic closed state prisons to new inmates and shut down courts for months.
It wasn’t until Wednesday 15 months after his guilty plea that Shaw surrendered to begin his long prison term.
