On Monday, Major League Soccer announced that the 2021 MLS season will begin on Saturday, April 3 and clubs will start pre-season training on Feb. 22, a little less than six weeks prior to opening day, which this season is being called MLS is Back.
Just two days later reports started surfacing about a possible lockout. ESPN revealed that MLS President and deputy commissioner Mark Abbott sent a memo on Wednesday, advising teams and league staff that they should prepare for a potential work stoppage.
