Bow i spent a week in philadelphia recording young american, and as a could studios with kenneth gamble and leon huff. David bowie just 69 years old. He had been sick for a year and a half suffering for cancer and he kept it quiet. I dont think any of us knew he was that sick and he had said recently he wouldnt tour anymore and there is a lot of news surrounding that because on his birth take friday he released an album. Driving into work i heard a bbc interview with his publicist and long time friend saying he was really an anti star, these days, because everybody is so into selfies and promoting themselves. He was reclusive. He had been offered huge gigs and just backed off. We had heard sometime ago maybe in the last three or four months he wasnt going to do anymore live shows. Now we know why. But at the time he was coming up he would be mixed up to be mixed up with davey jones of the monkeys so he changed his name to david bowie.
