Greg Abbott, Sen. Ted Cruz and former Rep. Will Hurd, are still considering bids. But if none runs, it would be the first time a Texas politician has not been part of a major presidential bid since 1972. A possible presidential race without a Texan would be a departure from recent cycles. And although only three presidents have actually called Texas home, the state has left a mark on Washington.
