A major fire broke out in a building on Kleine Kerkstraat in Sneek, Friesland on Saturday night. According to the fire department, the fire started on the roof and by 4:50 a.m. the second floor of the building was completely on fire. Around 6:50 a.m., the fire was under control. There is still some fire in the roof of the building, but according to the fire department, it cannot spread any further.
On Vlieland, the entire island has power back except for an industrial area, the safety region posted on X. "We are working on a structural solution." Earlier Sunday morning, there was a power outage on Vlieland due to a fire in a transformer house on the island, the Fryslân fire department reported. Firefighters were on their way to extinguish the fire.
