WHEREAS, Ethiopia is an independent African country that has never been colonized and stands as a symbol for all African peoples in their struggle for freedom, dignity and respect;
WHEREAS, Ethiopia defended itself from Italian invasion on March 1, 1896 at the Battle of ADWA. The Ethiopia’s landmark victory unified the country and marked the first defeat of a European power by an African Country;

Todd will join Washington Gas as director of corporate public policy in January, the utility company announced Monday. In his new role, Todd (D-Ward 4), who lost his seat in the June Democratic primary election to Janeese Lewis George, said he will spearhead Washington Gas’s external relations strategy and lobby regulators, lawmakers and trade groups on issues that are important to the company. Todd was elected to the council five years ago to replace Muriel E. Bowser after she was elected mayor. As a council member, his critics often blasted him as being too loyal to Bowser though he has received praise from some Ward 4 residents for his focus on constituent services.
