A 38-year-old Missouri man was killed Thursday afternoon after his speeding motorcycle hit a traffic calming device on a residential street in the city, police said.
David Ferguson, city communications coordinator, said police and fire units were dispatched to the 1800 block of Heather Glen Drive, in the Heather Glen subdivision near Farm-to-Market Road 306, around 4:35 p.m.
Ferguson said responders found a male motorcyclist several feet away from his motorcycle, which had lost control after striking a speed reduction island.
âPreliminary results of the investigation indicate the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the curb (of the island) and lost control,â Ferguson said.
