Valet Market is an autonomous community market offering 1,500 square feet of retail space within Brookfield s luxury high-rise community,
Vantage Pointe, in San Diego s East Village. Designed as a shared pantry for the neighborhood, shoppers at Valet Market will find locally-sourced items, such as produce, baked goods and dairy, alongside everyday convenience items on the store s smart shelves. The market is also integrated with Last Step™ delivery services for residents, who can order goods through the store s mobile app for on-demand delivery straight to their door.
Valet Market, located on the ground floor of the luxury apartment complex Vantage Pointe, will have no cashiers or checkout stations.
Instead, shoppers will be able to walk in, take items, and walk out. The items taken will be automatically charged to the shopper s account.
The technology is designed by a local startup called Accel Robotics. Accel has created a mobile app that people can download and set up payment methods on.
The store is gated and requires the mobile app to unlock it. The app tracks the shopper as they move through the store, making it possible for people to grab and go.

A futuristic grocery store is opening in East Village on the ground floor of the luxury high-rise apartment complex Vantage Pointe.
The new store, called Valet Market, was designed by local tech startup Accel Robotics, and it contains no cashiers or checkout kiosks. Instead, the market allows shoppers to walk in, grab items off shelves, and walk back out with all items automatically charged to the shopper’s account.
Accel does this through a mobile app that shoppers can download and set up payment methods through. For security, the store is gated and requires the app to unlock it. The app anonymously tracks the individual as they move throughout the store, and sensors built into shelves signal to Accel which items the person picks up. This allows shoppers to literally grab and go.
