situation that could have happened to anybody. reporter: new beginnings correction officer sylvester young has been with the new beginnings detention facility 20 years and has never had an issue until monday. i let one resident out to go to the bathroom. another resident popped the door and came up from behind and sucker punched me. reporter: he said as he was on the ground with one inmate choking him, another inmate came over and started punching him in the face. the way he was punching me, i said oh, my god. reporter: once they were done beating them he said they took his keys, wallet, pass key and locked him in the room. i was so confused. didn t have too much to say. i couldn t understand what did i do to deserve this? reporter: he said the inmates used the pass key to access a ladder to climb over the razor wire fence and drove away in his car. the other inmate was caught before he could get away. a co-worker eventually heard young banging on the door and c
