FRESNO, Calif. – Justin Armbruester was brilliant in a 10-inning shutout performance, lifting New Mexico past Fresno State 1-0 in the second game of a Mountain West Conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday.
The 5-7 Lobos fell 5-2 in the opener. The series finale is 2:35 p.m. Sunday.
Armbruester (2-1) allowed just three hits and struck out 17 batters in the complete-game effort.
Matt Chambers’ double drove in Connor Mang in the top of the 10th inning for the Lobos. A runner was placed on second to begin the inning.

PHOENIX – Leadoff hitter Cameryn O’Grady tripled and belted a home run for New Mexico in its first game Saturday.

UNM fell 33-4 in five innings to No. 2 Oklahoma, then absorbed a 10-0, six-inning loss to host Grand Canyon to fall to 1-9 on the season.
The 33-4 score in the loss to Oklahoma is correct. The Sooners stroked 28 hits in just four innings against a quartet of New Mexico pitchers, who also walked 10 Sooner batters. Oklahoma scored seven runs in the first, third and fourth innings and 12 in the third.
