Baltimore City police on Thursday announced the arrests of 16 homicide suspects and 13 non-fatal shooting suspects over the past month.
In a release, police say that of these 29 violent crime suspects, 15 are considered repeat violent offenders. The suspects range in age from 14 to 48.
“I want to thank the many hardworking members of the Baltimore Police Department for working diligently and tirelessly to identify and apprehend those responsible for violent crime in our city,” said Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison. “To every member of our community that called our detectives or called anonymously, thank you! I am committed to working with every resident to make our city safer and rebuilding public trust in our department, as it is critical to creating a safer Baltimore.”

Illinois Senators call for monument of a 1908 riot that launched the NAACP

Illinois two senators have called on President-elect Joe Biden to make the site of a 1908 race riot in Springfield a national monument.
Sens. Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin, both Democrats, wrote to Biden Thursday asking for the designation, citing the riot’s historic significance, especially its role in inspiring the founding of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The ruling found that from the time she applied for the apartment and throughout the tenancy, Richardson faced sexist, racist and classist conduct from Kirkwall Properties’ owner Wilma Galbraith.
The panel heard how the landlord repeatedly called Richardson a whore, used racist terms towards her boyfriend and used a racist word to describe her unborn child.
The decision says it was a poisoned tenancy that forced the vulnerable mother to move out within a year.
Kirkwall Properties and Wilma Galbraith did not attend the hearing but filed an unsworn, handwritten reply denying the allegations. Galbraith’s crude, humiliating, and demeaning insults together with name calling and taunting attempted to drive the complainant out of the apartment building, Tracey Epp, the adjudicator, said in her ruling.
