Alabama public health officials are urging people to get COVID-19 vaccinations as soon as possible as the White House informed governors on Tuesday it might reallocate vaccine supply from states with decreasing demand for shots.
Gov. Kay Ivey said the state has not yet been notified that Alabama doses will be affected, but Ivey urged Alabamians to get vaccinated.
Vaccine distribution has been in steady decline for several weeks, according to Alabama Department of Public Health data. A little more than 120,000 shots were distributed between April 27 and May 3, the latest available data, a marked decrease from the 161,000 shots distributed in the seven-day period prior.
