CANTON Parks and Recreation Director Doug Foltz sees great potential in the Timken Gatehouse and now he has the keys.
The levy-funded and commission-run park system entered a five-year lease with the (now) Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in 2020. The hospital owns the gatehouse that once led to the Timken mansion.
Foltz motioned to the stone wall that extends to the north and south, envisioning a patio for weddings or retirement parties, during a recent visit.
Developing an action plan for the structure is part of a larger improvement plan for the series of parks from Stadium to City Field, he said. Canton Parks and Recreation recently posted a request for qualifications, seeking consultants to help craft those plans.
