Coldwater Solar awards community grants The Daily Reporter Apex Clean Energy and esaSolar, developers of a proposed 150 MW solar farm in Coldwater and Ovid townships. announced six Coldwater-area programs and organizations as the recipients of the first round of Coldwater Solar Community Grants. Receiving grants are: Sunrise Rotary Foundation’s Promise Scholarship, Coldwater High School Interact Club, Coldwater schools Lakeland Readers are Leaders program, Branch County Habitat for Humanity, Branch County District Library  and Corner Farmers Market.  While the 1,500-acre project is still in the planning stages, the companies launched the program earlier this year to support community organizations making an impact in the following areas: Building Healthy Communities, Economic Development, Environmental Sustainability, and Promoting Education.

Girard Township home invasion suspect formally charged in District Court

Coldwater, MI, USA / WTVB | 1590 AM · 95.5 FM | The Voice of Branch County Mar 16, 2021 8:55 AM COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man arrested after the Michigan State Police responded to an in progress Girard Township home invasion was formally charged on Monday in Branch County District Court. 25-year-old Aaron Todd Ford was charged with first degree home invasion and breaking an entering a vehicle to steal property less than $200. Court documents listed his current address as being in Coldwater after he formerly lived in Saline. State Police at the Marshall post say they were called to the 200 block of Hawley Center Drive just before 1:00 a.m. Monday morning after the homeowner told Troopers he was woke up by a loud noise.

Woman charged after vicious dogs attack neighbor

The Daily Reporter Pelton Avenue resident Rachel Natasha Mikovic-Day, 33, will face six city ordinance violations after her two dogs attacked a neighbor once and then severely bit him in a second incident in February.  The two dogs are Dogo Argentinos. The seven-year-old named Jax and the five-year-old named Drako came into the yard of Russell Maxwell, 49, at his home at 248 Pelton Ave.  Maxwell was trying to carry his groceries from his car to his house when the dog became aggressive and Drako ripped a bag.  Later, when he went to the Mikovic-Day home at 242 Pelton Ave., to tell her her dogs were loose, he knocked on her door. 

Suspect arraigned on maintaining drug house charge

Coldwater man charged with sexually assaulting 12-year-old

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man who was convicted last September of assaulting a female acquaintance is now facing a charge of first degree criminal sexual conduct. 21-year-old Tyler Wesley Chehowski was arraigned on Monday in Branch County District Court. He is also accused of being a third time habitual offender. According to court documents, the alleged incident involving a then 12-year-old girl took place in May of 2019. A warrant for his arrest was issued by the prosecutors office last Thursday following a Coldwater Police Department investigation. Bond during Chehowski’s arraignment was set at $100,000 and a no contact order was issued on behalf of the alleged victim.
