A 50-year-old man was mauled to death by a tiger in Brahmapuri tehsil of Maharashtra's Chandrapur district on Sunday afternoon, when he had gone to a forest area along with his mother and wife to collect some wood, an official said.
Currently, heat wave will remain for eastern pockets of Vidarbha for at least the next couple of days. Thereafter, there is a possibility of rains around June 11 to 13, which may give some relief from the current heat conditions. However, these showers will remain on the lighter side, and nothing significant is expected.
At least 42 towns and cities across Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh reported maximum temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius.
