As many as 48 law enforcers were admitted to Brahmanpara Upazila Health Complex on Wednesday after eating at ‘Ityadi Restaurant’, according to police officials and doctors.
Some of them were given first aid while others were hospitalised.
Dr Abu Hasnat Md Mohiuddin Mubin, an official of the Upazila’s health and family planning unit, said they were stricken with food poisoning.
“We are doing our best to treat them. Those who are in critical condition have been transferred to Cumilla Medical College Hospital.”

At least 10 people including three journalists were injured during an attack carried out by unknown criminals in Cumilla s Brahmanpara upazila today.
The injured journalists are Ashiqur Rahman Ashik, Cumilla correspondent of Jagaran TV; Abdus Samad Bappi, cameraperson of MyTV; and Jahidul Haque Babu, news editor of One News.
The injured journalists were given primary treatment and referred to Cumilla General Hospital, Brahmanpara Upazila Health Officer Dr Md Abu Hasnat Mubin told our local correspondent.
Additional Superintendent of Police in the district Azimul Ahsan said they heard the news and sent additional police force in the area.

More than 100 police members, who were deployed for duty at by-election to Brahmanpara Upazila Parishad in Cumilla, fell sick after eating at a local restaurant last night.
Confirming the matter, Nazmul Alam, officer-in-charge of Brahmanpara Police Station, said at least 33 of the policemen and eight drivers of requisitioned vehicles were admitted to Brahmanpara Upazila Health Complex.
