CAMPAIGNERS are calling for council bosses to step up to help restore an historic stairway back to its former glory. The council had earmarked £40,000 to improve the stairs at Barr s Brae in the Port, which have fallen into disrepair and become overgrown. But now the work has been delayed for three years after the cash was clawed back by councillors to be used as part of a job creation fund instead. Meanwhile in the light of a lack of council maintenance, residents have been doing their bit to keep the steps clear and safe. Councillor Drew McKenzie said: It is disheartening.
