Story revealed the choice or lack of it in a ‘return’ after the pandemic
I was surprised the Globe dedicated a front-page article to concerns about post-pandemic life and how it will affect people who have clearly had the option of working from home (”Over so soon? Dreading post-pandemic return,” Page A1, Dec. 27). Front-line workers in the medical field, first responders, those critical to the food chains, and more are probably not worried about their dog. They are more concerned about avoiding infection.
When one considers the deaths, psychological impacts, educational setbacks, and economic crisis, especially in lower-income communities and among people of color, the article is insensitive. Zoom cocktails with your friends, adopting a dog, running your kids around to activities those are choices we make, and maybe we will all make different choices with our time in the post-pandemic era, but suffering the effects of COVID-19 is not a choice for so many.
