Diane, the shooting happened about 2 1 2 miles away from here but in an attempt to escape the gunfire, the driver of the car carrying the two victims came here to east pal totality toe and was able to get into the mcdonalds parking lot on university and bay. Police say of the five people found inside the car here, two were shot. A 21yearold woman and her 2yearold son sitting on her lap when the incident occurred. Both were hit in the legs and a bullet grazed the childs head. The two were taken to the hospital where they are in stable condition and expected to be okay. The shooting happened about 7 45 this evening at the intersection of bay front and willow in menlo park. There was an altercation here on willow road. And when they came up to the intersection, the passenger of the vehicle extended a weapon, we believe a handgun out of the vehicle and shot numerous times at the victim vehicle. Mcdonalds parking lot, police gathered crews of a different shooting. In that Incident Police say two suspects pulled up alongside this sedan at an intersection and fired into the car. They sped we were and came to this mcton nadals at east palo alto. The victim vehicle was occupied by fire five adults and one child. There were tw people that were hit. One adult, who is a 24yearold female, and a child, twoyearold male. Reporter police say the child was sitting on the mothers lap in the car when they were hit. They both suffered gunshot wounds to their legs, and the twoyearold suffered a grazing wound to his head. They were rushed to Stanford University hospital. Investigators are trying to determine if the shooting was gangrelated. Right now police say, again, theres trying to determine exactly how these two situations happened within such a close proximity of each other and also a time frame, a close time frame.
