Clean sweep for Chaz Mostert, completes Easter sweep with final race win 3 days ago Chaz Mostert’s TCR Australia championship lead has been extended even further after the Melbourne Performance Centre driver took his third win from three races at Mount Panorama. Joining international star Néstor Girolami as the only driver in the category’s history to complete a clean sweep of a round, Mostert was able to notch up his fifth win of the year aboard the Audi RS 3 LMS after a late scrap for the lead in an incident shortened final race. For the third straight race, Aaron Cameron was able to get the jump on pole-sitter Mostert off the line, leading into Hell Corner aboard the Garry Rogers Motorsport prepared Peugeot 308 TCR. Mostert was able to stick with the GRM car but had Cameron’s team-mate Jordan Cox in the #5 Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR keeping him honest behind.

Heading in to the race after taking the lead late in the opening outing from Aaron Cameron, Mostert again had to fight the Garry Rogers Motorsport Peugeot 308 driver to take his second win of the round, further extending his championship lead despite running with 60kg of ballast. Just as it was in race one, Cameron got the jump on the outside of the front row to lead the pack into Turn 1, checking out to hold a lead of over two seconds at the end of the first tour.

The Melbourne Performance Centre driver might have entered the race with the pole position but had to fight with 60kg of success ballast in his Audi RS 3 LMS, fighting back from a tough start to outpace the Garry Rogers Motorsport Peugeot 308 TCR of Cameron late in the race. Starting from the outside of the front row,  Cameron got the holeshot into Hell Corner, the GRM driver edging out polesitter Chaz Mostert to the first turn as further down the pack both HMO Customer Racing entered Hyundai i30 N TCR’s of Nathan Morcom and Josh Buchan were left sitting on the grid, having issues after a prolonged starting sequence.

Photo: TCR Australia Series Jordan Cox celebrated Australia Day in style by taking his first ever victory in a TCR car at Symmons Plains Raceway. However, it was fellow Alfa Romeo driver Lee Holdsworth who was on pole position for this second race of the 2021 TCR Australia Series. The former V8 Supercars star wouldn’t lead the pack for long though, as Cox managed to out-drag him as the start lights went out. The best getaway of all, however, came from a row further back on the grid. Aaron Cameron got a brilliant launch in his Peugeot 308 TCR, and promptly scythed ahead of Holdsworth and Josh Buchan as if they were standing still, elevating him up into second place.
