Lawler claims werneburg got out of his car, with a hammer in hand, and approached lawler, her granddaughter kaylee, a friend of kaylees, and kyle freese. Then, for some reason, werneburg got back into his car. I thought he was going to leave but he didnt. He backed up and then came full force at us. First he hit my truck, said cindy lawler, owner of carnarvon inn. Thats when, lawler says, werneburg backed up again and struck freese injuring his leg. After a doozy of a monday weather wise, well see a colder and quieter weather pattern with a couple of small snow chances. Our winds remain a bit strong this morning which is still causing some patchy blowing snow in some of our easternmost communities along with subzero windchills across the board. Other than that, today should be hazardfree as winds diminish just a touch but remain steady. We should also see a bit more sun too with highs near 20 degrees. Lows tonight will drop into the Single Digits as clluds inccease late and could bring in a few flurries if not quick snow dusting for some on wednesday. Well have another slight chance of flurries thursday night as highs continue to cling to the 20 degree mark moving into the weekend before getting their next big bump up to the 30s on sunday. An appeal, by the belle of sioux city, a Penn National gaming subsidiary that operated the argosy, to the iowa court of appeals in december. That appeal centers on the iowa racing and Gaming Commissions rejection of penns request to extend the riverboats gaming license. But, as temperatures continue to drop to near below freezing, some ice could still develop on area roads and make things a bit slick for this mornings commute.
