A brief moment of the 2002 Winter Olympic torch relay brought two towering figures of Park City’s modern era onto the stage together. Torchbearer Brad Olch, the recently retired mayor, was leaving the spotlight while his successor, the newly sworn in Dana Williams, was entering it.
While other women have campaigned for the mayor’s office in Park City, or have publicly declared their interest before circumstances intervened to block a bid, it was Nann Worel who was able to break the glass ceiling at the Marsac Building.
Nann Worel on Tuesday was sworn into office as the mayor of Park City, completing a rise in the ranks at the Marsac Building that took her from the long, arduous meetings of the Park City Planning Commission, to the wide-ranging workload of the Park City Council and finally to the political prize of the mayor’s office.
