YUCCA VALLEY — A Southern California Edison planner and a bank vice president, both graduates of Yucca Valley High School, were appointed to town commissions this month.
The Yucca Valley Town Council met last night to discuss complaints surrounding short-term vacation rentals and a special order regarding the Western Joshua Tree. Reporter Joshua King has more details…
A central focus of last night’s meeting was to discuss a report of 60 complaints lodged towards the town’s short-term vacation rentals since December 1, 2017. The majority of complaints concerned excessive noise, overflowing trash, and trespassing. The Town Council received and filed the report after hearing public comments from multiple sides, with the majority of speakers raising concerns about the impact of short-term vacation rentals on the local community, criticizing the Town for not providing enough information to the public in this area.

Obernolte
It did not take long to find out what we can expect from our new congressman, Jay Obernolte. Jay demonstrated that he is nothing but a Trumpublican cultist when he voted to contest the election of President Joe Biden. It is very disappointing that this would be one of Jay’s first acts in Congress, but it is not very surprising. Many true Republicans did step up and do the right thing, especially after the violent attempted coup at the Capitol on Wednesday. But not Jay! True Republicans withdrew their errant objections, many resigned, and many spoke the truth. But not Jay! Of course, in a democracy, the voters have only themselves to blame. Let’s hope that we can quickly correct our mistake and remove this political hack from office in 2022.
