Newman Jr | 7:00 am, May 4, 2021 × District 9 - Brainerd area CO Patrick McGowan (Pine River) patrolled Crow Wing County lakes for angling activity. Anglers are starting to find some crappies in the shallow bays. CO Chelsey Best (Crosslake) worked fishing, turkey hunting, trapping, burning, and ATV activity this past week. Enforcement action was taken for trapping issues, no fishing licenses, ATV-registration issues, operating an ATV in a wetland, and targeting game fish out of season. Assistance was provided for illegal burning. Two ATV safety classes were conducted. Littering along ATV trails was the biggest issue this past week.

Numerous ATVs were out operating on local township roads. Trails continue to be closed. A reminder that anyone under the age of 18 operating an ATV or riding as a passenger needs to wear a DOT-approved helmet. CO Amber Ladd (McGregor) worked trapping activity and some early fishing activity as all area lakes are now free of ice. Ladd also monitored activity around closed forest roads and ATV trails.

Newman Jr | 7:00 am, Apr. 6, 2021 × District 11 - St. Cloud area CO Caleb Silgjord (Sauk Centre) worked a late-night shift monitoring bowfishers in the Sauk Centre station. While standing a short distance away, Silgjord observed an angler shoot a largemouth bass. The group was also found to be in possession of sunfish that had been taken with archery equipment. The group was surprised to see the game warden, to say the least. Silgjord spent time working with CO Vang during the past week. They followed up on a dumping complaint and addressed ATV violations in the Little Falls station. Other violations addressed included watercraft-registration issues and navigation lights.
