With the cold snap set to continue into this week, it s a good thing for the people of Limerick that they ll be getting some extra help in keeping the roads and paths safe.
Limerick councils want people to name their new gritters

The most “weird, wacky and wonderful” names suggested will be chosen for the five new specialised vehicles with a special prize for the overall winner.
A number of UK councils have been naming their winter machines in recent years. Names including “Gritney Spears”, “Brad Gritt” and “Gritsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Anti-Slip Machinery” have all been used there.

Anyone who wants to try naming the Limerick gritters can do so on this website. The closing date is Sunday 21st February.
