The council of the City of Baxter supports local decision-making authority and opposes legislation that restricts the ability of local elected officials.
At a cost to Baxter of $5,000, both county and city officials believe taking charge of the initial study presents the best chance of moving the project forward and into the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s State Transportation Improvement Program, the city administrator said.
The real estate report, requested in 2021, looked at some of Baxter’s city-owned vacant properties, including two commercial parcels, four industrial parcels and five residential parcels.

WORTHINGTON Brad Chapulis, community and economic development director for the city of Worthington, has accepted the city administrator position in Baxter. He will begin his new job May 1.
