Springfield BOE issues statement on Beun arrest

LAKEMORE – The Springfield Local Schools Board of Education released a statement on the arrest of district employee Brad Beun during its regularly scheduled meeting on April 20.
A statement was read after the session stating that the Board was shocked to learn that Beun was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), offsite of district property, on April 16. After learning of the arrest, Beun was put on administrative leave with pay, which is protocol.
After the executive session, the Board unanimously voted to change the status of Beun’s leave to unpaid.

SPRINGFIELD TWP. – The Springfield Local Schools Board of Education voted to accept the resignation of employee Brad Beun during an April 23 emergency meeting.
Beun was arrested by the FBI on April 17 and was immediately placed on paid administrative leave as is the district’s protocol. On April 20, the Board of Education voted to remove Beun from paid administrative leave.
The investigation is ongoing, and the district is cooperating with the authorities. The FBI has revealed allegations that were, according to the board and administration “deeply disturbing against Beun.” It is believed that Beun had arranged to meet an adult and an 8-year-old girl for the purposes of sexual activity but was instead arrested by FBI undercover agents. He has since been charged with coercion or enticement.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - The FBI says Bradley Willem Beun sought to have sex with an 8-year-old girl.
Investigators say on Friday, April 16, the 41-year old man from Uniontown showed up at the Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites in Akron after exchanging lewd messages and photos on KiK Messenger, a social network.
