The fire s cause was under investigation.
Redding firefighters extinguished a fire early Friday morning at the Denny s restaurant at 542 E. Cypress Ave.
The fire department responded at 4:41 a.m. and saw a fire burning outside the building. Flames reached the restaurant s interior but there was only a minimal spread, fire officials said.
Major damage was reported to part of the building s exterior and minor damage to the interior. The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage to the building and $500 in damage to contents.

Firefighters were dispatched at 8:40 a.m., and the fire was contained shortly thereafter. Cleanup was conducted and an estimated $500 of damage was caused.

PALO CEDRO, Calif. – Cal Fire crews contained an early morning fire in Redding.
Firefighters responded at around 8:40 a.m. to an early morning shed fire on the 20000 Block of Boyle Road in Redding. Crews were able to contain the fire shortly after arrival.
The clean up was conducted and an estimated $500 of damage was caused. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
