The was ruled accidental, a state police spokesman at Reading reported.
An investigation by a state police fire marshal Corey Heimbach determined the fire started in the attic area of the house.

âThe home was fully involved when firefighters arrived,â said Jeff Bealer, public information officer for Boyertown Fire & Rescue. âFlames were shooting through the roof.â
The occupants, a woman and a child, were able to flee their burning home, Bealer said.
They were uninjured, and firefighters managed to rescue several pets from the home. The family is living with relatives.
The home, located about 2 miles southwest of Bechtelsville, is a total loss, Bealer said.

Fire crews from Berks and Montgomery counties responded shortly after 1 p.m. to a two-alarm fire in the 1200 block of Reading Avenue, which is Route 562.
The home near the detached garage was not damaged, Bealer said. There were no injuries.

Fire officials immediately struck a second alarm and activated a tanker task force to haul water to the scene.
The fire was declared under control within an hour.
