HANDICAP MATCH: HERCULES HERNANDEZ (with Jim Cornette) vs. TERRY ELLIS, RICK MCCORD, & PAUL BROWN
-We go straight to the ring without our customary welcome to the show. I actually checked and it turns out the Network has edited out a little segment where Bill Watts announces that Boyd Pierce’s mother has died and gives an address where fans can mail cards. Finding out that Boyd’s mother was still alive up to this point is kind of like when Homer learns that Mister Burns’ mother is still alive.
-Masked Jim Cornette workshops “Hercules Unchained” as a nickname. Herc immediately puts McCord to sleep with the Silly Non-Mulkey, but the two jobbers run in and attack before the referee has a chance to call for the bell, so he just rolls McCord out of the ring and keeps murdering the two remaining jobbers. He puts Brown down with the Skinny Nude Model and rolls him out. That leaves Ellis, and Herc slams him and applies the Shoney’s New Muffins fo

-Your hosts are Boyd Pierce & Joel Watts.
-Bill Watts is at ringside with Butch Reed and Buddy Landell. Watts has some key weapons from last week, a chain, a folding chair, a tennis racquet, and a 2×4. Bill Watts replays the melee from last week’s show, which ended with an injured Sonny King writhing in the ring and stopping the entire show in its tracks.
-So Bill Watts has had enough: Chains, 2x4s, chairs, and tennis racquets in the ring will now cost a wrestler $10,000. The exception is Jim Cornette; since Mama would just pay the fine for him, if Cornette uses a weapon, it’s an automatic suspension. Landell and Reed approve of the new measure, saying that it’s mostly the babyfaces who cause all these problems that led to the new rule.
-Your hosts are Boyd Pierce and Bill Watts.
-Jim Ross is in the ring with a severely overmodulated microphone, as well as Jim Cornette and Mr. Wrestling II. Cornette’s life is officially in danger, so he’s hired II as his new bodyguard.
NON-TITLE: MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (Tag Team Champions, with Jim Cornette & Mr. Wrestling II who for the record is technically Mr. Wrestling III if you’re new to these recaps) vs. THE P.Y.T.s
-Debut for the PYTs, consisting of Michael Jackson and Eddie Murphy Raw…no wait, this is actually Koko Ware and Norvell Austin but damn they spent some money on that red leather. Express attempts a pre-match attack but the PYTs clear the ring and get down. Big surprise right away, as Watts actually calls him “Koko B. Ware,” which I absolutely thought was a WWF invention. Express takes turns getting their arms worked over and they’re having a really off night, to Cornette’s dismay.
-Originally aired June 30, 1984.
-Your hosts are Boyd Pierce & Bill Watts. Bill announces that because of the World’s Fair, there’s going to be a bonus Superdome show this year. No offense, but if the Wigsphere couldn’t draw, what chance does Mid-South Wrestling have.
-Jim Ross is at ringside with Steve Williams and Terry Taylor, and the crowd is so ahead of this angle that they boo Steve Williams at the start. Williams is wearing the TV Title medal that he “remembered” to bring this week. He says he’s going to hang the medal on the ring post, just like he did with Krusher Kruschev, and if Taylor wants it, he’ll have to fight for it. Taylor is shocked, but he agrees to do it because he’s a fighting champion.
