Six Colorado state parks increase daily vehicle pass by $1 in 2021 Stephanie Butzer/Denver7 By: Stephanie Butzer and last updated 2021-01-01 11:20:44-05 DENVER â Beginning Friday, visitors to six Colorado state parks will have to pay $1 more for a daily vehicle pass. This increase in fees, which Colorado Parks and Wildlife is calling a high-use fee, applies to Lake Pueblo State Park, Golden Gate Canyon State Park, Staunton State Park, Castlewood Canyon State Park, Roxborough State Park and Highline State Park. This $1 increase was needed to mitigate extra expenses and resource strains after the parks welcomed a high level of visitors, CPW said. The six parks all saw a huge increase in visitation numbers, CPW explained.

However, Colorado Parks & Wildlife wants to remind people to take safety precautions before heading out on the ice, especially following a recent incident at Boyd Lake State Park, where an angler fell through the ice. According to CPW, ice should be at least four inches before people are out ice fishing or taking part in other activities. The ice at Boyd Lake was only 1.5 inches when the angler fell through on December 14. Fortunately, the water wasn t very deep, and the angler was able to safely get out.
