but prosecutors admitted the strength of their case is now in jeopardy. that after the credibility of strauss-kahn s accuser came into question. we are absolutely convinced while today is a first giant step in the right direction, the next step will lead to a complete dismissal of the charges. reporter: court papers showed during the prosecution s investigation, the hotel maid s account of the attack was inconsistent. prosecutors also say she admitted to lying on her asylum application to come to the u.s. including making claims she was raped in her native guinea. there are also reports she contacted a convicted drug dealer, looking for advice on how to profit from the strauss-kahn case. today s proceedings did not dismiss the indictment or any of the charges against the defendant. reporter: the victim s attorney says his client was assaulted, and there is also independent evidence, including strauss-kahn s dna to support her claims. she has described that sexual as
