Before Katie Taylor there was Deirdre Gogarty, Ireland's first professional female boxer and world boxing champion. Yet the inspiring story of her rise to world championship glory is shockingly relatively unknown particularly among the community in her home town of Drogheda. This is all going to change as the Deirdre Gogarty Legacy Committee have planned a huge homecoming celebration where Deirdre will take to the stage and share the highs and lows from her career.
