An ingredient found in the popular health drink supplement Bournvita called Maltodextrin is sparking major controversy, raising concerns of health safety.
Apex child rights body NCPCR on Wednesday asked Mondelez India-owned brand Bournvita to withdraw all misleading advertisements, packaging and labels after a video claimed that the health drink has high sugar content.
NCPCR said it has received a complaint alleging that Bournvita promotes itself as a health drink improving children's growth but it contains high percentage of sugar that might impact a child's health.
Health experts are of the opinion that while most products claim they have nutrients and vitamins essential for a child’s overall development, many of them have excessive amounts of sugar.
