Dorset Police received a report of a man with the blade in Normandy Drive at around 4.45pm on Monday, May 3. Officers attended, including units from the armed response team, and a search of the area was carried out. A Dorset Police spokeswoman said: An 18-year-old local man and a 19-year-old man from Poole were arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place.

A man held over the murder of Travelodge receptionist who was found dead in the hotel foyer has been detained under the mental health act, police said today.
The 32-year-old suspect was arrested after the young woman was battered to death while she worked the nightshift at a seaside Travelodge on Christchurch Road in Bournemouth, Dorset.
The victim, a young woman who has still not yet been named but was aged in her 20s, was found dead in the foyer area of the hotel at about 7.30am on Wednesday.
Colleagues found her covered in blood and there was little they could do to save her, while other people at the hotel described the horrific scene with blood trailing up all the stairs .
