Readers respond: Bottle deposit system works fine

Regarding Janet Miles’ April 6 letter, “Bottle deposit program needs changes”: I thought it was strange that someone living in West Linn would be writing that it is “increasingly difficult for consumers to return their cans and bottles for refund” and that “Bottle Redemption Centers are so few.” There is a Bottle Redemption Center a couple of blocks from the Fred Meyer in Oregon City, which is the closest Fred Meyer to West Linn. Our family regularly shops there, and when we have a full bottle return bag, we take it with us. It takes less than five minutes to drop off a bag or two.
